On Saturday, January 22nd and Saturday, January 29th the CHCSO conducted a Strategic Planning workshop for twenty-one community members at Jackson Elementary School. The school principal, Ms. Judy Carpenter, attended and played a major role in helping the event to unfold. Workshop participants included a variety of persons from the community, including educators, students, ministers, etc.
A major outcome of the workshop was that leaders of the organization were able to craft a meaningful vision statement, mission statement, goals, objectives, and trajectory. Attendees stated in their written evaluations of the event that they were inspired, dedicated, and determined to see the Chapel Hill Community Service Organization, Inc. catapulted to a highly effective organization that makes an unparalleled difference in the lives of our rural residents.
At the end of the workshop, President Gwyen Dean presented all participants with a “Certificate of Completion” for sacrificing two days of their time to help build the CHCSO into an effective, life-changing organization.
Saturday, February 11th, thirty-one participants attended a joint session with community members and community leaders, including Chapel Hill ISD superintendent, Mr. Lamond Dean; Jackson Elementary School principal, Ms. Judy Carpenter; Texas A&M AgriLife Regional Program Leader, Mr. Larry Pierce; Prairie View A&M CEP Extension Agent, Mr. Anthony Brown; and several clerics from the community. A new commitment was raised for more people to help advance the CHCSO to serve youth and adults.
More events are being planned and will be posted soon.
